Properties of DHBP
DHBP is a light-yellow liquid that is water-insoluble but alcohol- and ester-soluble. The DHBP should be stored at a maximum temperature of 40°C since its decomposition temperature is at 80°C. On the other hand, DHBP is highly dangerous due to its flammability and explosive properties. DHBP has a weak peroxy linkage, making it prone to thermal explosion and free-radical initiation during chemical reactions.
The half-life or Reactivity of DHBP
The half-life of DHBP at 115 °C, 134 °C, and 156 °C is 10 hours, 1 hour, and 0.1 hours, respectively, indicating lower reactivity at higher temperatures.
